Wedding Dance Lessons in Canterbury
Made-to-measure first dance choreography, taught by professional wedding choreographers based in Canterbury — take it from an easy, assured sway to the kind of routine a whole room stands up for.
Your First Dance, Handled With Care
A Routine Shaped Around Your Track
Send us the track and your choreographer designs around it — the tempo, the line everyone waits for, the moment the phones come out. A classic waltz or something no guest expects: it is built once, for the two of you and nobody else. We teach couples marrying everywhere from the Guildhall to Kent barns and country-house lawns.
Built for Beginners
Most couples we meet have never taken a dance lesson in their lives. That is the whole design brief: choreography that looks lovely from the guest tables but is built from simple, repeatable steps. Already taking dance classes in Canterbury? You will pick this up in no time.
Lessons That Fit Around the Week
One-to-one sessions in a studio in the middle of Canterbury, fitted around your job and the wedding to-do list, weeknights and Saturdays alike — or your choreographer drives out to you anywhere in Kent. Sorting a hen party too? It is the same team, and a single conversation books both.

Choose Your Dance Style
The first dance styles couples ask for most — and every one of them bends to your chosen track and your starting level.
Traditional Waltz
The timeless choice — graceful, romantic and at home anywhere from a grand ballroom to a garden marquee.
Modern Romantic
Easy, close movement that skips the rigid ballroom frames — for couples who would rather look like a smoother version of themselves.
Latin Fusion
Rumba and bachata warmth with a touch of drama — a connection guests can feel from the back tables.
Swing & Jive
Quick, joyful and impossible to sit still through — the style that has guests up before the song has finished.
Dramatic Spotlight
Lifts, dips and staged moments for couples chasing a gasp — built safely and rehearsed until they are second nature.
Song Transitions
Begin slow, then drop into something nobody saw coming — multi-song choreography with the biggest reaction per second going.
From the Dance Floor
Real Canterbury couples on the first dances we built with them.
"Our venue was a converted oast house with a genuinely circular room. The choreographer built the routine to travel — we orbited the whole floor and every table got a front-row moment. People still mention it."Married near the Cathedral
"He is a cricketer. Footwork, apparently, does not transfer. Four patient lessons found the two moves he could own, built everything around them, and on the night he looked born to it."Last-Minute Package
"We learned to a studio recording and panicked when the band played it live at a different tempo. Turns out our teacher had drilled us for exactly that — 'follow her shoulders, not the song.' Saved the day."Wedding Party Choreography

Wedding Dance FAQ
Everything couples tend to ask before booking wedding dance lessons in Canterbury — nerves, timing, songs and venues.
We genuinely cannot dance — can these Canterbury lessons really help?
That is exactly who these lessons exist for. Nearly every couple we teach arrives with no dance history at all. Your choreographer chooses steps that look far better than they are hard, drilling them in small pieces until they run on their own — nerves accounted for from the first session.
How early should we begin our first dance lessons?
Somewhere around eight to twelve weeks before the day is ideal — one lesson a week or fortnight, with a little home practice between them. Cutting it fine? The two-hour Last Minute intensive has rescued couples with a fortnight left, and we can usually slot it in that same week.
Does our first dance song have to be a particular style?
Any track works. Send it over and the routine is built around its tempo and its big moments; if it runs long, we trim it to a length you can perform. Still undecided? Your choreographer will draw up a shortlist to match the mood you want.
Can you also choreograph the parent dances?
Yes — every wedding dance, not only the couple's. Parent dances, bridal-party group routines and surprise numbers are all regular bookings, at the same session prices, at our Canterbury studios or your venue.
What if one of us is secretly terrified?
More common than not, in fact. These are private lessons — no class around you, no audience — and your choreographer works to the pace of whichever of you is more anxious. By session two, the dread has usually flipped into quiet showing off.
Where exactly do the lessons happen?
In private studios around central Canterbury, arranged to suit your week — weeknights and weekends both work — or your choreographer comes out to your home or venue anywhere in Kent. A lot of couples add one final run at the wedding venue itself.
