Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Warm, and Still Flat
Heels plays no part in the warm-up. Ten minutes go by on flat feet — ankles circled, calves fired up, the back drawn long — because turning an ankle in your first week is the quickest way to lose a term. This bit is non-negotiable; we don't wave anyone past it.
Everything Is the Walk
Choreography waits its turn. First you own the walk, drilled all on its own: the push coming from the hips, each foot pressing down through its length, one clean vertical held from heel to crown. Get this right and whatever gets stacked on top later simply cooperates.
Take On the Routine
In comes a number with a proper club-and-charts bite, fed to you in short runs you can actually hold. It flexes to your feet on the day — block heel for the steady, flat trainers for the rest — with zero fuss made about which camp you're in.
Now Turn It On
Steps secure, the showmanship goes over the top. Lines fire out to the front, drops stay under control, and your eyes lock onto a pretend back row. Send one move at a single imagined face and it reads as a statement rather than a rehearsed shape.
Empty the Tank, Then Down
The hour ends on one run with nothing spared, followed by an easy wind-down that looks after the ankles and calves doing all the carrying.
About Heels Classes in Coventry
Heels takes a commercial routine, sets it on a raised shoe, and asks for maximum front. What newcomers rarely expect is that the shoe's height is almost irrelevant next to the balance keeping you steady on it — the heel is basically a prop. Two things are what you're really learning: control, so you stay level, and enough presence to fill the room.
A night out in Coventry is cheap, close and genuinely up for it. Drinks start in the cocktail bars of Cathedral Lanes, roll across to the Skydome and up timber-framed Spon Street, all of it under the wink of the Godiva legend — all eyes on you, and no peeking. Heels came straight out of that club-and-stage world, one that welcomed every sort of dancer from the start, and our rooms run young and mixed, boosted by two universities' worth of students.
Nobody's hurried onto the shoe. Those first weeks stay flat and in trainers so the ankles can bank the strength the heel demands later — here the craft arrives a good while before the sparkle. Everyone's welcome on this floor: any gender, any level, any adult past 17, and not a raised eyebrow in sight. Come in on the train, which is the sensible shout when there's a heel in your bag and Cathedral Lanes waiting afterwards.

Why Choose Heels in Coventry?
The Walk Is Made, Not Born
No one arrives already gliding down a runway — that walk is posture, balance and timing lining up, and every part of it responds to coaching. We assemble it from the ground up over the weeks until it stops feeling borrowed.
Nothing Moves Faster Than Your Ankles
Safety isn't an add-on here, it's the design: a flat start, routines capped where you can hold them, and stilettos kept well clear of anyone new. What your ankles can take is the only clock running.
Built as a Mixed Room
One routine, every gender learning it shoulder to shoulder. Heels never belonged to women alone — it grew out of stage and club life that shut nobody out — and the lone requirement at the door is nerve.
A Running Start to the Evening
The buzz lands instantly and travels with you: book an earlier slot and carry that fresh confidence right into a Cathedral Lanes bar, or on to the Skydome as things heat up.
Your Heels Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Flat, Building the Base
Getting Started
You'll start with simple grooves, then posture and that make-or-break walk, all of it flat in trainers while the ankles toughen up underneath. It's the exact reason no heel shows its face during the opening month.
Kit
Leggings or joggers, a top with stretch, and trainers. The heels stay boxed for now — they come out only when you've settled on a pair you trust and decided you want to go up.
The Heel Arrives
Technique
A solid block heel begins showing up for stretches of the class. You tidy the walk and learn to sit your weight cleanly over it, so bit by bit the shoe turns from adversary into ally.
First Routines
Along come your first real routines — short, punchy numbers with genuine commercial attitude, each set to a heel height you can handle on the day.
Commanding the Floor
Bigger Numbers
The routines lengthen into fuller pieces, folding in level changes and a touch of floorwork, danced to tidy facings with a make-believe audience out front.
Your Presence
Here presence enters — the quality separating a true heels dancer from someone simply surviving the steps, the step up from getting the moves right to actually running the room.
Totally in Control
Perform
Filmed clips and showcase slots are there for anyone itching to perform; for anyone not, it stays the gutsiest, most enjoyable hour of the week, no more and no less.
What's Next
Beyond this lie improver-level heels, a sideways move into the commercial room, or gathering your mates for a hen-party version of the class.
Heels in Coventry FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I have to dance in heels straight away? +
Not at all — most people spend their first weeks in trainers and are in no hurry to leave them. The early sessions go on the walk, on standing tall and on strengthening the feet while you're flat, and you step up onto the heel purely when it feels right to you, not against any clock.
Is this a women-only class? +
Far from it — the Coventry floor is open to every gender, and the easy, friendly mix of people who show up proves it. Heels was born in a stage-and-club world that welcomed all comers, and nothing about that has changed in our room.
Will my ankles actually be safe? +
Yes, when it's coached properly — which is exactly why we open flat, wake the ankles before anything else, and keep every routine to a height you can control. No one goes up in a heel until they're steady on it, because those flat opening weeks exist solely to grow the balance that makes the shoe safe.
Do I need any dance background? +
None whatsoever. We take every move apart from scratch, and the beginners' class assumes nothing at all. Put plainly, if you can cross a room on your own two feet, you've already got the raw material we build from.
Where in Coventry do the heels classes run? +
Central partner studios, a couple of minutes from the Cathedral Lanes bars and the Skydome. The exact room is confirmed when you book — an easy walk from the rebuilt Coventry station, or a quick turn off the ring road, and no tram to work out.
How much is a heels class in Coventry? +
£8 on a drop-in, handed over on the night, with no sign-up fee and nothing to sign. As soon as your nearest studio fixes a weekly slot, a block booking knocks the price down.
Other than shoes, what should I bring? +
Comfortable bottoms you can move in — leggings or joggers — a top you don't mind sweating through, and some water. Kneepads become handy once floorwork starts, though you can happily leave them at home for a first go.
When the time comes, what heels should I buy? +
Go for a block heel with an ankle strap; the strap keeps the foot locked in and it's far kinder than a brand-new stiletto. A sturdy heeled ankle boot does the trick just as well — anything that wobbles is best left in the wardrobe.
Can we book a heels session for a Coventry hen do? +
Definitely — it's a cracking warm-up before a night around Cathedral Lanes or the Skydome. Drop your date and headcount on the form and we'll either hold a central studio or bring the class out to you across Coventry and Warwickshire.
