Dance Classes in Bolton
Twenty Ways to Dance in Bolton
Beginners Set the Tone
Walk in never having danced and you are the norm here, not the odd one out — most sessions are mostly first-timers, and every style opens at a level that takes nothing for granted. Anyone with training slots into improver groups run by working pros. Sorting a hen do as well? One booking covers the pair.
An Easy Trip Into Town
Weeknight and weekend classes sit in the compact centre, a short walk from Bolton Interchange where the trains and buses meet — there is no tram out here, so most people come on foot, catch a bus in from Bury or Horwich, or park nearby. Come when it works for you, or take a block and pay a bit less. Getting married? Our wedding dance lessons use the same rooms.
Eight Pounds, No Catch
Every class is a flat £8, whether you drop in once or take a four-week block — no joining fee, no contract, nothing sneaking onto your card each month. Give street a go one week and tap the following one. Ready to go? Get in touch.
Find Your Style
Twenty styles up on the board in Bolton — every one open to raw beginners, every one led by a professional who still performs.
Bachata
A slow-slow-slow-tap count with a soft hip roll landing on the fourth beat — Bolton's small Latin scene finds its easiest way in through this gentle Dominican two-step.
Bachata Classes
Ballet
Barre, centre and the patient stacking of technique, taught cold for grown-ups; Bolton School of Dance has run the graded ladders since 1984, and this room is squarely for the adult starting today.
Ballet Classes
Ballroom
Stand tall, hold the frame, and let waltz, foxtrot and quickstep travel round the floor. Warm, sociable ballroom of the front-room sort — the Blackpool Tower and the mahogany tan can stay where they are.
Ballroom Classes
Belly Dance
Shimmies, figure-eights and the sharp catch of a hip drop — pretty to watch, quietly punishing on the core, and it genuinely suits any age and any body.
Belly Dance Classes
Bollywood
Big filmi choruses, a bhangra lift through the shoulders and expressive storytelling hands. With nowhere in Bolton running a regular Bollywood night, your teacher takes you from a standing start, step by step.
Bollywood Classes
Burlesque
All poise and mischief — a paused glance, a rolled shoulder, a glove peeled slowly off. Nothing actually comes off but the nerves, whatever anyone assumes; the strut is the souvenir.
Burlesque Classes
Commercial
Chart-video routines buffed up until they read straight down the lens — street's sleeker, show-facing relative, run by the kind of jobbing dancers Harc Studios keeps working out at Bromley Cross.
Commercial Classes
Contemporary
Release technique, spiralling floor work and open improvisation, where the language is weight and breath and momentum — what you reach for when plain words won't stretch far enough.
Contemporary Classes
Flamenco
Heels hammered into the count, palmas that crack and arms coiling up like smoke — drop a beat and the whole room hears it, which is precisely what makes nailing one so satisfying.
Flamenco Classes
Heels
Big lines and bigger attitude, rehearsed in trainers so the choreography lands well before the heels do. Wearing them is an offer, not an order — commercial dance with the swagger cranked up.
Heels Classes
Hip-Hop
Bounce, groove and the party steps at the culture's core, kept deliberately separate from the street-dance umbrella — here the rhythm is coached into you, not taken for granted. Harc Studios keeps the local scene alive.
Hip-Hop Classes
Irish Dancing
Featherlight reels and jigs over racing feet while the arms hang stone-still at your sides — pinning them down, oddly, is the tough part, and the one that gets the laughs.
Irish Dancing Classes
Jazz
Sharp kicks, clean turns and lines stretched long — the grammar under most stage dancing. Put in a term and a show at the Octagon or a night at the Albert Halls reads completely differently.
Jazz Classes
K-Pop
Straight from the official video: the signature moves and every formation switch, worked over as a group until it's razor-tight. Learned properly, not just eyeballed off a phone — and the cameras come out the instant it lands.
K-Pop Classes
Line Dancing
Solo all the way — the room grapevines, digs its heels and turns a quarter to meet a new wall on the same beat. Born in country music, it trails the charts wherever they head.
Line Dancing Classes
Pole Dance
Strength isn't the price of entry — it turns up as you work through the spins, climbs and holds. It's a dedicated pole studio only, so pack grippy shorts and skip any moisturiser beforehand.
Pole Dance Classes
Salsa
An easy Cuban rhythm with the whole room changing partners, so no one is ever left on the side — a soft lead-in toward the little circle Mariana Salsa keeps going locally.
Salsa Classes
Street Dance
Everything under the street banner in one class — breaking, popping, locking and house — with the door open at every level. It rides on the grassroots scene Harc Studios drives at Bromley Cross.
Street Dance Classes
Tango
Everything hangs on the embrace and on a walk with real intent, the drama sitting in the held pauses. First-timers spend that opening hour just learning to move together as a pair — which, strangely, is precisely what wins them over.
Tango Classes
Tap
Tap turns your feet into the percussion section — shuffle, flap and time-step until the floor is answering back. It all comes down to the shoes, so we'll sort you a borrowed pair for the opening weeks.

One plain price sitting behind all twenty styles.

Bolton Dance Class Questions
The things Bolton newcomers usually check before a first class.
What does a dance class in Bolton cost?
Eight pounds a class, flat — and a four-week block lands at that very same per-class rate, neither a discount nor a premium. There's no contract, no joining fee and no auto-renewing membership, so you only ever cover the sessions you actually make.
Where in Bolton do the classes run, and how do I get there?
The adult classes cluster in the compact centre near Newport Street and Victoria Square, minutes from Bolton Interchange, while children's groups sit out across the suburbs. No tram runs here, so it's a train into Bolton station, a bus from Bury, Wigan or Horwich, or the car — and each page here points you to its studio and the nearest stop.
Bolton already has established dance schools — where do you fit in?
Right alongside them. Long-standing names like Bolton School of Dance, Harc Studios out at Bromley Cross and Theatre Dance Studios in Halliwell do superb, often graded, child-focused work; we sit next door as an easy town-centre way for adults to sample twenty styles with no long-term tie. If your child wants a graded pathway, we'll happily send you their way.
Do you run classes for children as well as adults?
Yes indeed. Alongside the adult classes we run age-banded groups for children under DBS-checked staff, and for the youngest ones street and ballet book up quickest. Note which corner of the borough you're in when you get in touch and we'll steer you to the closest group.
Do the partner styles mean I have to bring someone?
Not required at all. In the partner dances — salsa, bachata, tango, ballroom — the whole floor rotates by default, so showing up by yourself is completely ordinary. Team up and stay paired if you'd prefer, or slot into the rotation and partner the entire room over the hour.
