Wedding Dance Lessons in Derby
One-off first-dance choreography built by working Derby instructors — anything from a relaxed, confident sway to the routine that quietly steals the reception.
Your First Dance, Done Properly
Choreography Built to Your Song
Send the track through and everything grows out of it — the tempo, the line in the lyrics that gets people, the exact beat where every phone comes up. It might be a straight waltz, it might be something that makes the room gasp; whatever it turns out to be, it is cut once and only for you. We have had couples marrying at the Council House register office, out at Morley Hayes, and in barns deep in the Derbyshire Dales.
Built for Beginners
Hardly anyone turns up with dance training — that is taken as read. The whole knack is choreography that reads as graceful from the guest tables while being assembled from a handful of easy, repeatable moves. If you already go to our Derby dance classes, expect to pick it up quicker still.
Booked Around Your Actual Week
These are private sessions at studios in the middle of Derby, dropped into the gaps between work and wedding logistics, evenings and weekends very much included — or the instructor loads up the car and comes to you across the county. If a hen party is on the list too, the same people cover it and you sort both in one go.

Choose Your Dance Style
These are the first-dance styles we get asked for most often — and each one gets reshaped around your particular track and whatever you can currently do.
Traditional Waltz
The classic that never dates — elegant, romantic, and just as suited to a stately-home ballroom as to a marquee in a Derbyshire garden.
Modern Romantic
Relaxed, close, natural movement that drops the rigid ballroom framing altogether — for couples who want to look unmistakably like themselves, only a little more composed.
Latin Fusion
Rumba and bachata heat with a flash of theatre — the sort of chemistry guests clock from the furthest table in the room.
Swing & Jive
Bouncy, cheerful and completely contagious — this is the one that drags half the guests up before your song has even wrapped.
Dramatic Spotlight
Staged lifts, dips and big reveal moments for couples after an actual gasp from the room — everything constructed safely and rehearsed until it is rock solid.
Song Transitions
Begin tender, then hard-cut into something no one saw coming — a stitched-together multi-track routine that wins the loudest reaction for the least effort.
From the Dance Floor
Words from Derby couples about how their first dance actually went.
"Deji insisted on the song from our first date; I thought it was far too fast to dance to. Our teacher slowed the arrangement, built the steps around it, and Morley Hayes heard the version we'll always love."Married at Morley Hayes
"We came in convinced there was no way to look composed with so little time. We walked out with a handful of moves we could trust and the confidence to enjoy the moment rather than dread it."Last-Minute Package
"None of us had a scrap of rhythm between us, yet the group routine somehow clicked. When the bride realised what was happening she couldn't stop laughing, and that reaction alone made the whole thing worthwhile."Wedding Party Choreography

Wedding Dance FAQ
The things couples raise most before booking wedding dance lessons in Derby — cold feet, how long it takes, choosing the track, and the venues we use.
We have two left feet — can wedding dance lessons in Derby really do anything for us?
Genuinely, that is the exact brief. The overwhelming majority of couples we coach have never trained a day in their lives. The choreographer chooses moves that read as far trickier than they are, then breaks them into tiny pieces you repeat until they stop feeling like thinking — and the nerves are baked into the price.
When should we start our first dance lessons in Derby?
Give it two or three months and it is comfortable — one lesson a fortnight or so, plus a little practice at home. Already up against it? The two-hour Last Minute session has bailed out couples with barely fourteen days on the clock, and it can usually go in this week.
Can we pick absolutely any song for it?
Any song you like. Once it is with us, the whole routine gets shaped to its rhythm and its standout seconds; anything overly long we cut down to a stage-able length. Not settled on one yet? Tell the choreographer the mood you want and a shortlist comes back.
Do you also teach father-daughter and mother-son dances in Derby?
Yes, and often — it is every dance at the wedding we handle, not just the couple's own. Father-daughter and mother-son routines, full bridal-party numbers and hush-hush surprise dances come through constantly, all at the standard per-session rate, either in a studio or at your venue.
What if one half of us is secretly terrified?
You would not believe how usual that is. Because sessions are one-to-one — no class around you, no onlookers — the choreographer simply works to whichever of you is warier. Nine times in ten, the fear has turned into faint bragging by lesson two.
Whereabouts in Derby would we actually be learning?
In private studios near the Cathedral Quarter and Chapel Street, timetabled to suit your week, evenings and weekends fine — or the instructor comes to your place or venue anywhere in Derbyshire and up towards the Peak District. Loads of couples add a final run-through at the wedding venue itself.
