Warm-up & Groove
We warm the body and settle into a groove, because commercial that hits still sits on a relaxed bounce underneath. Get the groove first and the sharp stuff lands so much cleaner on top of it.
Isolations & Hits
You drill isolations — head, chest and shoulders — and the crisp hits that punctuate commercial choreography, learning to stop dead on a beat and make it look effortless.
Levels & Attitude
In come the levels, the drops and the bit of swagger that separates commercial from plain steps. We rehearse them slowly on both sides so they are clean before they are ever fast.
The Routine
The moves link into a short piece of choreography set to a current track, taught eight counts at a time and stacked up so you feel it becoming a whole number rather than a pile of steps.
Perform It
We run the routine full-out with the music up and a bit of camera energy, so you leave having actually performed something start to finish — and understanding exactly why commercial is so addictive.
About Commercial Classes in Huddersfield
Commercial dance classes in Huddersfield are the ones that look like the music videos — sharp, punchy choreography to the chart and pop tracks you already know, danced full-out with the kind of attitude that makes a routine pop on camera. Huddersfield has a genuine studio scene to feed off: RISE Dance and Fitness and Fidget Feet have carried commercial and street choreography across the town for years, so this is a style with real local roots rather than an import.
You need no experience and no partner — commercial is danced solo in a group, everyone facing the mirror, learning the same routine at their own level. We start with groove, posture and clean isolations, add the sharp hits and levels that give commercial its snap, and only then stack choreography on top, taught eight counts at a time so the routine builds instead of swamping you.
There is a quiet decades thread to lean on too — Huddersfield genuinely produced Billy Currie of Ultravox and, more recently, the thrash band Evile — so the town knows a bit about making a sound land. Classes run across Huddersfield, from the St George's Square and New Street side of the centre to the Lindley and Marsh side, venue confirmed on booking, with come-to-you group sessions across Kirklees. Each session is a flat £8 on the night. Wear trainers with a clean sole and clothes you can move and sweat in.

Why Choose Commercial in Huddersfield?
All levels, real foundations
We teach groove, isolations and hits properly rather than throwing you into steps, so total beginners keep up while returners get sharper. Everyone dances the same routine, each at their own level.
Made for the camera
Commercial choreography is built to look good filmed, so what you learn feels current, punchy and genuinely worth recording — the routines you actually want to show people.
Solo in a crowd
No partner and no spotlight — you dance in the group facing the mirror, which is a low-pressure way to build the confidence commercial is really about.
Across Huddersfield
Sessions sit centrally near St George's Square and New Street or over the Lindley and Marsh side, venue confirmed on booking, and a private group class can come to you across Huddersfield and Kirklees.
Your Commercial Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Weeks 1–2 — Groove and Snap
The bounce settles
Within a fortnight the underlying groove stops feeling self-conscious, and suddenly the hits have something to sit on top of.
Hits get crisp
Stopping sharply on a beat feels alien at first and then, quite quickly, it does not — that control is what makes commercial read on camera.
Weeks 3–6 — Stacking Choreography
A vocabulary of moves
You collect a handful of commercial steps and hits you can do on demand, on both sides, without a countdown before each one.
Hitting the accents
You start landing on the beat and the breaks rather than near them, and the routine begins to look sharp instead of approximate.
Months 2–3 — Full Numbers
Longer routines
Choreography gets longer and changes facing, and you pick up new eight-counts faster because the foundations are now automatic.
Camera-ready
Two dancers doing the identical routine start to look different — the moment you stop copying and start performing to the lens.
Ongoing — Making It Yours
Your own flavour
You bring attitude and styling that mark your dancing out, so the same choreography comes out looking like nobody but you.
Keep building, no strings
At £8 a drop-in with nothing to sign, you can keep sharpening for as long as you like — most people stay for the tunes and the crew as much as the moves.
Commercial in Huddersfield FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
What is the difference between commercial and street? +
Commercial leans toward the polished, music-video, pop-and-chart choreography you see behind artists on stage, while street sits closer to hip-hop's raw foundations. There is real overlap, and we teach the groove both share, but our commercial class is aimed at sharp, performance-ready routines.
Do I need any experience? +
None. Classes begin with groove, isolations and hits, so an absolute beginner has everything they need. Foundations are taught every session, never assumed.
Do I need a partner? +
No — commercial is a solo dance done in a group. You face the mirror and dance your own version alongside everyone else, which keeps the pressure right off.
What should I wear? +
Trainers with a clean, non-marking sole and comfortable clothes you can move and sweat in. No special kit — just whatever lets you drop low and hit hard without thinking about it.
Is there an age limit? +
Our advertised adult class runs roughly 17 upwards, and the booking form lists younger age bands too. Whatever your age, we pitch the room to the people in it.
How much is it? +
Eight pounds per session, paid on the night, the same flat £8 as every class we run in Huddersfield. No membership and no block to buy — just turn up when you can.
Are you connected to RISE or Fidget Feet? +
No. RISE Dance and Fitness, Fidget Feet and Huddersfield's other studios do great work and we are happy to point you their way, but we have no affiliation with any of them — we simply run our own beginner-friendly commercial sessions.
Will I actually learn a routine? +
Yes. Every block of classes builds toward a full routine set to a current track, taught eight counts at a time so it stacks up rather than swamps you.
Whereabouts in Huddersfield? +
Centrally near St George's Square and New Street, and over the Lindley and Marsh side, venue confirmed on booking. Private group sessions can also come to you across Huddersfield and Kirklees.
