Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Ankles & Balance
We start with the technique that keeps you safe in heels — ankle strength, weight placement and a controlled walk — before a single piece of choreography.
The Strut
The signature heels walk: hips leading, shoulders back, chin level. We break it down so a first-timer can own a catwalk the length of the room.
Signature Moves
Body rolls, hair flicks, floor-adjacent poses and the sharp arm lines that give heels choreography its glossy, music-video attitude.
Learn The Routine
A short number to a track with real bite, layered one section at a time and drilled so the whole group lands the accents together.
Run & Release
One full run of the routine at performance energy, then off the heels for a proper stretch of calves, ankles and shoulders.
About Heels Classes in Kent
Heels dance is confidence turned into choreography — the walk, the body roll and the poised control it takes to make a heel look effortless. It grew out of the commercial and street scene and shares that world's polish, and Kent has a genuine feel for it, with studios like MEPA in Maidstone and Goodman Dance in Dartford feeding a real local appetite.
We are a come-to-you option, not a fixed studio and not partnered with those names — we simply bring a class to your own venue. Because Kent runs from the Medway towns to the coast, that matters: a group in Ashford and a group in Tunbridge Wells can each learn the same fierce routine without anyone facing a long cross-county drive to a single central room.
Every class starts with heel technique — how to stand, balance and walk with control — before any choreography, so it is safe as well as sharp. You will learn a short routine to a track with attitude, drilled until the group hits it as one. Drop-ins are £8, pay as you go, and trainers are welcome while you find your feet.

Why Choose Heels in Kent?
Confidence On Tap
Heels dance rewires how you carry yourself. The strut and the poise follow you off the floor and into a night out around the Pantiles or Maidstone.
Technique First, Safely
We teach ankle strength and controlled walking before choreography, so you build heel confidence without rolling an ankle — trainers welcome to start.
We Travel To You
Maidstone, the Medway towns, Ashford, Tunbridge Wells or the coast — name the hub and the class comes there, not you across the county.
£8 A Session
Eight pounds, pay as you go, no term contract — the same rate whether your room is in Dartford or out towards Folkestone.
Your Heels Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
First Session
Standing Strong
The first class is about feeling steady — how to hold your weight and walk with control. Plenty start in trainers, and that is exactly as it should be.
The Walk Lands
By the end you have the signature strut and one or two glossy moves, already enough to feel a foot taller than when you walked in.
Getting Fierce
Cleaner Attitude
Over a few weeks the body rolls, arm lines and poses sharpen, and the face and attitude that sell heels choreography start to come naturally.
Heels On Properly
As your ankles strengthen you spend more of the class in heels, moving with a control that felt out of reach on day one.
Full Routines
Whole Numbers
You carry complete routines to full tracks, hitting the accents with the group — the kind of thing that looks fantastic filmed at a party in Maidstone.
Faster Pick-Up
New choreography lands quicker each week as your body learns how heels phrasing moves, so classes become more play and less catch-up.
Owning The Room
Unshakeable Poise
The posture and presence stay with you far beyond the class — walking into a room, a meeting or a dance floor with the same easy control.
A Regular Slot
Some keep a weekly session in their Kent town for a term, others drop in around events and hen weekends. The £8 pay-as-you-go rate suits both.
Heels in Kent FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I have to wear heels to a heels class? +
No — not at your first class, and never before you feel ready. Most people start in trainers while we build the ankle strength and balance the style needs, then move into heels gradually. The technique comes first so it stays safe as well as sharp.
Where in Kent do the classes run? +
We come to you across the county — a studio near Maidstone, a room the Medway side around Rochester and Chatham, or somewhere out towards Ashford, Tunbridge Wells, Dartford or the coast. You choose the base and the class travels there, so nobody drives the length of Kent.
Is there one central Kent heels studio? +
No. Kent is far too spread out for a single venue to serve everyone, so we do not claim one. A teacher brings the session to your chosen town — the honest come-to-you model for a county this size.
How is this different from the studios already in Kent? +
Kent has a real scene, with places like MEPA in Maidstone and Goodman Dance in Dartford. We are not those studios and are not partnered with them — we are a come-to-you option that brings a class to your own venue when a fixed studio does not suit.
Will heels dancing hurt my feet or ankles? +
Not if it is taught properly, which is why every class opens with balance and ankle-strengthening work before any choreography. You build up in your own time, start in trainers if you like, and stretch out thoroughly at the end. Done right, it strengthens rather than strains.
I have no confidence — is that a problem? +
That is exactly what heels dance is for. The strut and the poise are learned, not innate, and the change in how people carry themselves after a few weeks is the thing they mention most. You leave standing taller than you arrived.
How much does it cost? +
Weekly drop-in classes are £8 a session, paid as you go with no term contract, and the rate is the same across every Kent town. Private group and hen bookings are quoted separately depending on venue and numbers.
Can we book heels for a hen party in Kent? +
Yes — it is a popular choice for hen weekends based around Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone. You learn a fierce routine and film it before you head out. Groups bring their own heels, and we bring the choreography and the confidence.
Am I too old for a heels class? +
No. Classes run for ages 17 to 75 and you set your own pace on both the heels and the intensity. Plenty of people start later and find the confidence boost is exactly what they came for, whatever their age.
