Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
A Gentle Opener
We kick off with one easy, cheerful track — just enough to warm the legs and get people chatting, never enough to leave anyone puffing before the real steps arrive.
The Handful of Steps
Almost every dance is built from the same small set of moves — a grapevine here, a tap or a turn there. We walk through them slowly, so that when the caller shouts one out your feet already know it.
Piece the Dance Together
The routine is stacked up in short sections, each drummed in by repetition. Because the caller flags every move as it comes, there is nothing to memorise beforehand — you just follow the voice.
Put a Song On
Now it runs to real music — chart pop one week, Motown or a bit of fifties rock-and-roll the next — with the caller still calling for anyone who loses the thread.
Round Again, Then Wind Down
We loop the finished dance a few easy times, laugh off the wrong turns together, and close on a gentle stretch so nobody leaves aching.
About Line Dancing Classes in Newcastle
Line dancing is about the least intimidating way there is to start dancing. Arrive on your own or bring a pal, watch the person in front, and let the caller name every step the moment it comes round — nothing to invent, nothing to be nervous about. Our line dance classes in Newcastle range far past country music into chart pop, Motown, soul and plenty of rock-and-roll.
Because there is no partner to organise, it is a doddle to come along solo, and it draws a broader mix of ages than anything else on our books. The Newcastle difference is our reach. Plenty travel in, but we are just as ready to take the whole thing out to you — over to Gateshead, up the coast to Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and Cullercoats, out to Gosforth, Jesmond and Morpeth, or down to Durham. In town, our studios sit around the centre and the Quayside, confirmed when you book.
One class costs £8 and ties you to nothing — turn up once, leave able to dance a routine end to end, and take it from there. Leave the boots and the Stetson at home: all you really need is flat shoes that turn smoothly and the good humour to shrug off a mis-step. Every age is welcome on the adult floor, and under-18s learn with vetted staff.

Why Choose Line Dancing in Newcastle?
Solo Suits It Perfectly
Everyone stands in lines facing one way, doing the very same steps, so coming alone is completely normal — there is never a partner to wait around for.
The Caller Has You Covered
Every move is called aloud the instant it lands, which means nothing gets learned in advance and nothing is left to guesswork — you always know what is coming next.
We'll Drive Out to You
Line dancing goes wherever the North East needs it — Gateshead, Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, Gosforth, Morpeth, Hexham, Durham — so a class near your door is easy to set up.
All Ages, Same Floor
Nothing else we teach gathers such a spread of ages, and few are as easy to walk into by yourself and leave from with a couple of new pals.
Your Line Dancing Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Learning to Follow
Your Opening Dances
You meet the small bank of named steps and build your first complete routines — slow, repeated, and genuinely danceable by the end of night one.
What to Wear
Everyday comfy clothes and flat shoes with a sole that turns easily. The cowboy gear is strictly optional — none of it is needed.
Filling the Cupboard
More Under Your Belt
A new dance most weeks across all sorts of tracks, so your collection of steps quietly grows without any sense of homework.
Hearing the Call
Soon you catch a step named and land it on reflex — the point where the whole thing suddenly makes sense.
Getting Comfortable
Faster to Pick Up
New dances come quicker, longer sequences hold, and you lean on the caller a little less with each week that passes.
The Company
Regular faces and a warm, natter-filled floor — for many it becomes the whole point of the night.
Part of the Furniture
A Deep Collection
You amass a big personal stock of dances and can learn a fresh one on the spot, whatever the caller throws down.
Where It Heads
Theme nights, our events, or coaxing along the friend who insists they cannot dance — then watching them stay till the very end.
Line Dancing in Newcastle FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Can you actually bring line dancing to us across the North East? +
Yes — travelling to you is where it comes into its own. We take the class right across Tyneside and past it, to Gateshead, Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, Gosforth, Morpeth, Hexham and down to Durham, running it in a hall on your own patch.
Is it all country songs? +
Not remotely. Some country, sure, but also chart pop, Motown, soul, disco and fifties rock-and-roll. The steps behave the same whatever is playing, and swapping the music around is half the fun.
I've never danced a step — can I keep up? +
Easily — it is made for first-timers. The caller names each move live, the routines grow bit by bit and repeat, and most newcomers dance a full one before the night is out.
Is a partner needed? +
None at all. It is a whole room in lines, all facing the front, doing matching steps — so you can rock up alone and be part of it from the opening bars.
Do I have to wear cowboy boots? +
Not a chance. Comfy clothes and flat shoes that pivot nicely are plenty — the hat-and-boots look only really appears on the odd theme night.
Where in Newcastle are the classes held? +
Central studios around the city centre and the Quayside, confirmed once you book. And we carry line dancing out across the North East too, straight to a venue near you if getting into town is a faff.
What is a class in Newcastle? +
£8 a session, settled on the night, nothing to sign up for. When your nearest studio fixes a weekly time, discounted blocks open up beside the drop-in.
Am I past it for this? +
Not in the least. Few classes welcome so wide an age range, it is kind on the joints, and you move at your own speed. A fair number of our regulars started after retiring and never looked back.
Can we book it for a group or hen do? +
Absolutely — there is a dedicated line dancing hen party for one-off groups, and we will bring it to any venue in the North East. For a mixed-ability crowd, few things level the room so quickly.
