Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Warm to the Comeback

The warm-up runs to whichever comeback is everywhere that week, which means the song you will be breaking down is already stuck in your head by the time we get to work.

10–25 mins

The Killing Part

There is always one signature move made for the clip everyone shares. We take that first, drop the tempo right down, break it apart and put it back together until it snaps out cleanly, exactly on the beat.

25–40 mins

Section by Section

We build a chorus or a verse at a time, drilling it in short counted repeats, testing it slow against the music, and only speeding it up when it holds together properly by itself.

40–50 mins

Formations and Camera

We map out the spacing — your spot, your timing on each turn, which direction you play to a camera that is not there — then add the small details that make a cover look finished rather than approximate.

50–60 mins

Full Runs, Then Down

To finish, several full-speed runs with the volume up — record yourself to pick apart afterward if you like, or opt out completely — and then a cool-down stretch.

About K-Pop Classes in Edinburgh

There is no pop choreography more precise than K-pop — every movement locked to the track, and a full group reshuffling its formation constantly through a song. You cannot learn that by pausing a music video over and over. What our K-pop dance classes in Edinburgh offer instead is time and structure: the genuine choreography from the title tracks, both boy-group and girl-group, taken slowly, counted out and repeated until it matches what is on screen.

Edinburgh is packed with students — four universities between the Old Town, the Southside and the campuses out west — and that has built up an active scene of cover groups, random-play events and meetups. So the class fills with people at your own level, and there is always somewhere real to take a routine when you fancy it.

Our partner studios sit around the city centre and closer to the university areas, and we will confirm the exact one at booking. The tram and both mainline stations make them easy to reach — and it beats paying to rent a mirror-lined room of your own.

Why Choose K-Pop in Edinburgh?

No Watered-Down Version

We do not teach a cut-down ‘easy’ rendition. It is the full performance choreography, formations and all, exactly as the group dances it — so your version actually looks the part alongside the original.

Formations Done Properly

We drill the positioning, the swaps and the transitions in every class — the behind-the-scenes work that is the difference between a cover that clicks into place and one that quietly comes apart.

The Camera’s Optional

Recording yourself at the finish is the fastest way to see what needs cleaning up — but it is entirely voluntary, and you can stay off camera whenever you prefer.

A Scene to Join

Because the city is so student-heavy, there are constant random-play events and cover showcases nearby — meaning the routines you learn have a genuine place to be performed whenever the mood takes you.

Your K-Pop Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Week 1–4

Your First Chorus

Getting Going

We begin with a single standout move and one complete chorus from a gentler song — quick to grasp, and genuinely worth filming by the time you are a month in.

What to Wear

Relaxed streetwear and trainers with a decent grip. The full idol-styled outfit can wait until you are filming, but if you fancy dressing up sooner, nobody will stop you.

Month 2–3

Whole Tracks

Linking Up

You will join verses, bridges and dance breaks onto the chorus until a full song plays through at speed — and you will quickly learn how much more effort that is than the polished videos suggest.

The Details

The fine detail that K-pop is scored on — precise hand positions, heads turning bang on the beat, deliberate pauses — begins to look sharp rather than only close.

Month 4–6

Sync and Range

Together as One

Positions rehearsed relentlessly until everyone strikes each moment at once — which is exactly what turns a handful of people dancing in the same room into a single, tidy performance.

Both Sides

Switching between the punchy boy-group energy and the fluid girl-group style pushes you across two very different feels — a range a lot of dancers never bother to build.

Month 6+

Where It Leads

Cover-Ready

Harder title tracks, faster learning and the fitness to last a full song — the complete toolkit for taking cover dancing seriously if you want to.

Out and About

Recorded group covers, the random-play events scattered across the student scene, or branching into our commercial and heels classes to broaden what you can do.

K-Pop in Edinburgh FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Is this the actual choreography or a simplified version? +

The real thing. You learn the stage choreography as the group performs it — formations included — not a beginner-friendly rewrite. It is just taught slowly enough that a beginner can actually get there.

Where in Edinburgh are the classes? +

We use partner studios around the centre and closer to the campuses; you will get the precise address after booking. They are all a few minutes from a station or a tram stop, and the city centre is easy to get around on foot.

How much does it cost? +

A drop-in is £8 and ties you to nothing. Once a regular weekly time is set at your local studio, you will also be able to book blocks at a lower price.

Do I need dancing experience? +

Not a scrap. Everything is drilled slowly to a count before we bring it up to tempo, and we pick a first move so that even a total newcomer leaves able to do a chorus people will recognise.

Do I need to speak Korean? +

No need — the whole class works off counts and cues in the music, so language never factors in. The only side effect is a hook or two lodging itself in your brain for the week.

What should I wear? +

Comfortable, sweat-friendly clothes and trainers with grip. You are welcome to dress the idol part, but it is never expected — being able to move easily matters far more at the start than the outfit.

Is the filming compulsory? +

Totally up to you. A few sessions end with a group video for practice, and choosing to stand off camera is completely fine and fairly common.

Boy-group or girl-group choreography? +

We cover both across the term. Boy-group choreography tends to be sharp and powerful, girl-group smoother and more flowing — and being at home in both is the fastest way to build genuine versatility.

Do you teach children and teens? +

We do — separate groups for 6–8s, 9–14s and 15–16s, all under DBS-checked staff. Mention the age when you contact us and we will place them in the right class.
