Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Loosen Up and Learn the Lingo
We warm the hips, knees and ankles and put names to the handful of terms we will use all night — wall, count, grapevine — so nothing sounds like code once we start.
The Building-Block Steps
Grapevines, heel digs, kick-ball-changes and the shuffle get taught on their own first, walked through slowly until the feet know them.
Build a Full Wall
We chain those steps into one complete wall of a real dance, counting aloud, so you learn the whole sequence one facing at a time.
Turn the Corners
The pivot or quarter-turn that carries you to the next wall goes in, and suddenly the same steps become the entire dance in every direction.
Dance It to the Track
We run the finished dance to the music a few times as a group until it flows, then ease off with a gentle stretch.
About Line Dancing Classes in Middlesbrough
Line dancing is the most sociable, least intimidating way into dance there is — no partner, no experience, everyone facing the same way and learning the same steps together. We will be honest that Middlesbrough has not had one obvious standing weekly line-dance hall of late, so our line dancing classes in Middlesbrough start as a friendly, instructor-led class we build around interest and take out across Teesside, rather than claiming a hall that is not there.
The format is simple and that is the appeal. A line dance is a set sequence of steps repeated to face each of four (sometimes two) walls in turn, so once you have learned one wall you already know the whole dance. We teach the common building blocks — grapevines, heel splits, kick-ball-changes, the shuffle and the pivot turn — then wire them into full dances set to country classics and the odd modern chart hit, because line dancing long ago stopped being only cowboy boots.
It suits every age and it is genuinely walk-in — most people have their first full dance by the end of a single session. There is no partner to bring and nothing to buy; trainers or any flat, comfy shoe are perfect. It is £8 on the day, no term, no membership. Because we travel, tell us your part of Teesside — Linthorpe, Acklam, Marton, Nunthorpe, Coulby Newham, Ormesby — and we will find a venue near you. Middlesbrough station is the easy arrival if we run central; there is no tram in the town.

Why Choose Line Dancing in Middlesbrough?
No Partner, No Pressure
You never need to bring anyone. Everyone dances the same steps facing the same way, so there is no leading, no following and no being left out.
A Whole Dance in One Night
Because a line dance just repeats to each wall, most people finish their first session already able to do a complete dance start to finish.
Honest About a New Class
We are not rebadging someone else's long-running club. This is a fresh instructor-led class built on real Teesside interest, run where people actually want it.
Brought to Your Corner of Teesside
No central venue to travel to — we take line dancing out to community halls and groups across Teesside, from Acklam to Marton and beyond.

Line Dancing in Middlesbrough FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Is there a line dancing class in Middlesbrough? +
We are starting one, and we would sooner be honest than claim a weekly hall the town has not really kept going. It is an instructor-led class built around genuine interest, so the first step is simply telling us you would like to come.
Do I need a partner? +
Never. That is the whole point of line dancing — everyone dances the same steps side by side facing the same wall, so you can turn up completely on your own and fit straight in.
How much does it cost? +
£8 per session, on the day. No membership, no term and no block to buy up front — you pay for the one class you come to and that is it.
Where does it run? +
Across Teesside, wherever there is demand, because we travel to you rather than working from a single fixed studio. If we run centrally, Middlesbrough railway station is the easy arrival — there is no tram in the town.
Is it all country and western music? +
Not at all. Country classics are in there, but modern line dancing is set to pop and chart tracks too, so you are as likely to be dancing to something current as to a honky-tonk tune.
I'm worried I'll be too slow to keep up. +
You will not be. Every step is walked through slowly and named, and because the dance repeats to each wall you get the same sequence several times over — it is built to be picked up in one go.
What should I wear on my feet? +
Any flat, comfortable shoe with a little grip — trainers are ideal. You do not need cowboy boots and there is nothing you have to buy to join in.
Can you bring line dancing to our group or club? +
Yes — community groups, social clubs and private parties are exactly who this suits. We cover Teesside, from Linthorpe and Acklam to Marton, Nunthorpe and Ormesby; put your venue on the form.
Is it suitable for older beginners? +
Very much so. Line dancing is popular across every age precisely because it is low-impact, sociable and easy to scale — you go at the pace that suits you, and nobody is watching your feet but you.
