Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Get the Body Crisp

Everything about this style is clean and precise, so the warm-up matches — quick isolations, sharp stops and starts, and the joint mobility the choreography will lean on the moment it kicks off.

10–25 mins

Pull the Section Apart

We take a real chunk of a chart routine and break it right down, move by move, running each shape slowly and in isolation. Only when the counts feel dependable does anything begin to speed up.

25–40 mins

Formations and Focus

This is the signature K-pop bit — who stands where, which way you face, and how the shape of the group flips mid-phrase. We chart it carefully so it lands as one unit instead of a dozen soloists.

40–50 mins

Bring It Up to Speed

The section runs at full tempo now, joined up and tidied, with the little accents and camera-facing details added so it reads the way it does in the video itself.

50–60 mins

Optional Take, Then Stretch

If you fancy it, a quick phone recording shows you what to tighten before next week — never compulsory — and then a proper stretch after an hour that ends at a real sprint.

About K-Pop Classes in Nottingham

Nothing in pop is drilled the way K-pop is — every accent bang on the count, the formation flipping halfway through a line, a camera catching the lot. That is not something you absorb off a screen with the pause button. Our k-pop dance classes in Nottingham do it properly and slowly: genuine chart routines from girl groups and boy groups, dismantled and rebuilt one count at a time.

Few cities supply a better crowd for it. Between the University of Nottingham on its green campus at the edge of town and Nottingham Trent right in the centre, the place is thick with young, international dancers — precisely who a camera-ready style pulls in. That keeps the room full, mixed, and stacked with people around your own level to find your feet beside.

You need no dancing behind you and not a syllable of Korean — the counts do all the work, and speed only creeps in once the slow version is bulletproof, so a filmable chorus is yours from session one. The adult class runs from teenagers up to dancers in their seventies, under-18s get supervised groups of their own, and a spot is £8 with nothing to join.

Why Choose K-Pop in Nottingham?

Straight From the Charts

These are the actual title-track routines — girl groups and boy groups both — not softened knock-offs. We just ease the tempo enough that a complete beginner can hang with the rest of the line.

A Student-City Crowd

Two universities fill the class with a young, international, up-for-it mix, so you are always surrounded by people learning at roughly your own pace — easy company for finding your feet.

Choreographed to Be Filmed

The style is made for a lens, and an optional weekly clip is the fastest feedback there is — watch it back, spot the loose corner, fix it next time. Whether you record is always your choice.

A Spot for Younger Fans

Teens and kids get supervised, age-banded sessions with checked teachers — dependably one of our most-requested classes for that age group anywhere in Nottingham.

Your K-Pop Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Weeks 1–4

Counts First

Your Opening Section

A short slice of a genuine routine, learned slow and counted right through. Clean and accurate is the whole aim early on — full speed can wait until it is earned.

What to Wear

Clothes you can snap through movement in and clean indoor trainers. Bring a layer you can lose; the room heats up faster than you would think.

The Build

Speed and Spacing

Finding the Tempo

The slow version sharpens and picks up pace, and the formations land — where you move to, when you spin, how the whole group clicks into sync together.

The Camera Bit

The optional clips start appearing, quietly showing which corner wants a touch more polish before the next lesson comes round.

A Few Terms In

Full Routines

Complete Tracks

You begin carrying near-whole routines from chart songs — expression and accents included — rather than a loose chain of eight-counts that never quite joins up.

Widening the Net

We work through different groups and eras, so your range spreads into a proper library of routines instead of one song flogged to death.

The Long Game

Camera-Ready

Nailing It in One

Sharp, synced and confident enough to land a full routine in a single run, every facing sitting exactly where it belongs.

What's Next

Group filming days, our own events, or throwing yourself at the newest comeback the very minute it lands.

K-Pop in Nottingham FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

No dancing background and no Korean — am I stuck? +

Not for a second. Everything is taught by the count, so Korean never comes up, and outright beginners are exactly who fills the class. The counts tend to click into place inside your first hour on the floor.

Where in Nottingham do the classes run? +

Partner studios around the city centre and out near the universities towards Beeston and Nottingham Trent, with your room confirmed at booking. The station is a short walk and the flat centre crosses easily on foot or by NET tram.

Do I actually have to film myself? +

Never if you would rather not. The clips are optional and only exist because they speed up progress — in a city this full of students and content-makers most people take to it — but you can happily skip the camera altogether.

How long until I can do a whole routine? +

A solid section usually comes in a few weeks and most of a full routine within a couple of months. Since we lock the slow version down before adding any pace, it stays steady progress rather than a scramble.

Do you teach girl-group or boy-group choreography? +

Both, rotating week to week. The routines are real title tracks from right across K-pop, with no fixed artist list — the slow, counted method handles whatever happens to come up next.

What's the price of a class? +

£8 per drop-in, no membership, no tie-in. When your nearest studio settles on a weekly slot, discounted multi-session blocks appear alongside the pay-as-you-go rate.

What should I bring to wear? +

Something you can move sharply in and clean indoor trainers, plus a spare layer — the class climbs from a gentle warm-up to a flat-out finish, so you warm through quickly.

Can younger fans take part? +

Yes — supervised, age-grouped sessions run for teens and kids, it is among our most-requested classes for that age, and no previous dancing is needed. Just add the age to the enquiry form.

Is it current hits or older songs? +

A bit of both. The lean is towards current releases, but older favourites get worked back in through the term, which keeps the material varied and hands you a whole set of routines rather than one drilled-to-death track.
