Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Warm Up to the Beat

We kick off with a moving warm-up set to the track, waking up the joints, raising the pulse and getting everyone counting the music together. It doubles as a first taste of the groove so the choreography later feels like a natural next step rather than a cold start.

10–20 mins

Groove and Isolations

Before any routine we drill the foundations that make commercial read well on camera — chest and hip isolations, weight shifts and that loose-but-controlled bounce. These are the details that turn a sequence of shapes into something with real swagger and texture.

20–35 mins

Learn the Choreography

We teach the routine in bite-sized eight-counts, layering one section onto the last and repeating until the pattern sticks in the body. Nobody is expected to nail it first go; we drip-feed the speed and the styling as the room grows confident.

35–50 mins

Levels, Texture and Facing Out

Now we make it perform. We add dynamics, changes of level and the sharp faces and pauses that sell a routine to an audience or a lens, then rehearse spacing so the whole group hits the accents as one tight unit.

50–60 mins

Full Run

We put the sections together and run the number full-out a few times, music up and energy high, so you leave with a complete routine in your legs. We finish with a stretch and a quick recap of what to practise before the next session.

About Commercial Classes in Blackpool

Commercial is the polished, camera-ready dance you see behind chart artists — the choreography from music videos, awards-show performances and pop tours. It pulls threads from hip-hop, jazz and street and knots them into something sharp and confident: clean lines, big performance energy and a habit of hitting every accent in the track. If you've ever wanted to move the way the dancers do behind your favourite singer, this is the class that gets you there.

Blackpool turns out to be a shrewd place to learn it. Under the seaside postcard, the town carries a real street-and-commercial backbone — House of Wingz has driven street, breaking and youth-arts here since 2006, while The Dance Place has taught a broad, all-styles roster for decades — and its pop credentials are genuine too, with Little Boots having grown up in the town. Our commercial dance classes in Blackpool tap into that appetite for performance; we point to the local scene with respect and run our own friendly sessions rather than claiming anyone else's name.

In class you'll warm up hard, drill the groove, then learn a routine in short eight-counts that build across the term into something you can genuinely perform. Trainers and comfortable kit are all you need, water is a good idea, and no experience is assumed — we break every phrase down slowly and speed it up only when the room is ready. The music leans on current hits, the studio is confirmed when you book, and every drop-in is a flat £8.

Why Choose Commercial in Blackpool?

Camera-Ready Confidence

Commercial trains you to perform outward rather than stare at your feet, and that projection sticks. Regulars notice they carry more presence at parties, on socials and any time the phone comes out — the class quietly rewires how you hold a moment.

A Workout in Disguise

Full-out routines set to fast tracks get the heart going without ever feeling like a gym session. Between the warm-up, the drilling and the runs you clock a proper cardio hit, and the fun means you barely register the effort.

Always-Fresh Routines

Because the style follows the charts, the choreography keeps changing with the music you're already hearing everywhere. There's always a new track and a new number to sink your teeth into, so the class never settles into the same old thing.

Stage and Social Ready

Whether you fancy a performance, a routine for a night out or just a party-floor upgrade, commercial hands you moves that actually translate. It's tailor-made for groups too, so ask us about a private session for a hen do or celebration.

Your Commercial Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Weeks 1–3

Finding the Groove

Feel Before Steps

We start with the bounce, the isolations and the way weight travels, because commercial lives or dies on feel. Get the groove first and the choreography lands far more easily once it arrives.

What to Wear

Trainers you can pivot in and comfortable, movable kit are all you need, plus water. Leave the fashion at the door — this is about moving freely while the styling gets layered on later.

Weeks 4–9

Choreography That Sticks

Longer Sequences

The eight-counts start joining into fuller routines, and you build the muscle memory to pick up new material faster week on week — one of the most satisfying jumps in the whole style.

Adding the Attitude

Once the steps are secure we work the styling — the faces, the pauses, the sharpness — so your version stops being tidy and starts looking like it belongs in the video.

Weeks 10–16

Performance and Polish

Selling It

We focus on projection, spacing and hitting accents as a group, the difference between running through a routine and genuinely performing it for a room or a camera.

Your Own Flavour

You begin to colour the choreography with your own energy, finding where you push, where you hold and how you make a shared routine unmistakably yours.

Beyond

Your Performance Level

Keep Levelling Up

Some dancers stay for the weekly buzz and the fitness; others chase harder routines and cleaner technique, and there's always a next track waiting to stretch you.

Take It Further

If performing appeals, we can point you toward friendly ways to get more stage time and more filming practice, at whatever pace suits you and with zero pressure.

Commercial in Blackpool FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need any dance experience? +

Not at all. Commercial classes are built to welcome complete beginners — we break every routine into small counts and only pick up the pace when the whole room is ready. Plenty of our regulars had never taken a class before they walked in.

Isn't this just hip-hop by another name? +

They overlap but they aren't the same. Hip-hop sits closer to street foundations and freestyle, while commercial is the choreographed, performance-first style you see in music videos and pop shows. We keep the distinction clear so you know exactly what you're learning.

What should I wear and bring? +

Trainers you can pivot and jump in, plus comfortable clothes you can move freely in, and a bottle of water. That's genuinely it — there's no uniform and no special footwear to buy before your first session.

Whereabouts in Blackpool do the classes run? +

We use a central studio near the town-centre Winter Gardens and Tower area, with an alternative on the South Shore side; your exact venue is confirmed at booking. The Promenade tramway and Blackpool North station both drop you within an easy walk or a short tram hop.

How much does a commercial class cost? +

Every drop-in is a flat £8, with no membership and nothing to sign up to. You simply pay for the sessions you come to, which makes it easy to fit around shifts, family and everything else the week throws at you.

Is it a good workout? +

Definitely. Between the moving warm-up, the drilling and the full-out runs you'll get a solid cardio session and work your legs and core hard — most people are surprised how much they've sweated once the fun wears off and the muscles report in.

Is there an age limit? +

Our adult classes run from 17 right up to 75, and you set your own intensity within that. Commercial suits a wide range of ages and fitness levels because you can dial the size and speed of the movement to whatever feels right for you.

Can I book a private group session? +

Yes, and commercial is a favourite for it. A music-video routine makes a brilliant hen do, birthday or team session, and we'll tailor the track and choreography to your group — drop your date and rough numbers into the enquiry form.

What kind of music do you use? +

Mostly current chart and pop tracks, with the odd throwback thrown in, chosen to suit the routine and keep the energy up. If there's a song your group is desperate to dance to, mention it and we'll see what we can build around it.
