Warm Up and Prep the Ankles
Dancing in a heel asks a lot of the ankles and feet, so we warm them properly along with the hips and core. It gets the body ready, wakes up your balance and means the walking and choreography that follow feel steady rather than wobbly.
The Walk and the Posture
Before any routine we drill the foundation of the whole style — walking with control and holding a strong, lifted posture in the heel. Master the walk and everything else gets dramatically easier; it's the difference between surviving the shoe and commanding it.
Learn the Choreography
We teach the routine in short counts, layering sultry, sharp movement one section at a time and repeating until it settles. The pace is patient and the styling comes gradually, so nobody feels rushed while the moves are still finding their feet.
Floor, Levels and Sass
Now we add the drama — changes of level, a little floorwork, the poses and pauses that give heels its bite. We work on doing it all safely and smoothly in the heel, so the attitude reads clearly without the balance ever letting you down.
Full Run
We put the sections together and run the whole number a few times with the music up, chasing the confident, camera-ready energy the style is built for. A cool-down and a stretch for the calves and feet finish the hour off.
About Heels Classes in Blackpool
Heels is commercial choreography danced in a heel, and it's every bit as much about attitude as footwear. Somewhere between sultry and downright powerful, it trains posture, control and swagger, teaching you to walk, pose and perform with your whole body switched on. Despite the name it has nothing to do with how tall you are or how you look — it's an empowering, body-positive style whose entire aim is to make you feel like the most self-assured version of yourself.
Blackpool is a fitting place to strut it out. The town carries a real commercial and street-dance backbone — House of Wingz has driven street and youth-arts here since 2006, while The Dance Place has taught a broad, all-styles roster for decades — and it has never been shy about a bit of showtime. Our heels classes in Blackpool build on that performance energy, giving you the confidence and the choreography to own a floor; we point to the local scene with respect and run our own welcoming sessions rather than borrowing anyone's name.
In class you'll warm up thoroughly, spend real time learning to walk and hold posture in a heel before any tricks, then build sultry, punchy choreography across the term. A low block heel you feel steady in is ideal, though plenty of dancers start in trainers or socks and add the heel when they're ready — there's no rush and no pressure. The room is warm and encouraging, your studio is confirmed at booking, and every drop-in is a flat £8.

Why Choose Heels in Blackpool?
Confidence and Posture
More than almost any style, heels rewires how you carry yourself. Learning to walk tall and own a room in a heel spills straight into everyday life, and dancers routinely tell us they feel bolder and stand prouder well beyond the studio.
Serious Strength
Balancing and moving in a heel fires up your core, legs and ankles in a way flat shoes never do, building real stability and control. It's a sneaky-tough workout dressed up in glamour, and your legs will let you know about it.
A Body-Positive Room
Heels is for every body and every gender, full stop. The class celebrates confidence over appearance, and the studio is a warm, encouraging space where the only goal is feeling good in your own skin — no judgement and no single look to chase.
Performance-Ready
The choreography is punchy, expressive and made to be shown off, whether that's on a stage, a night out or a hen weekend. It's a favourite for groups too, so ask us about a private session built around your own celebration.
Your Heels Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Finding Your Feet
It Starts With the Walk
The first weeks are all about balance, posture and walking with control, in a heel or in trainers, whichever feels right. Nail this foundation and the rest of the style opens up far more quickly and safely.
What to Wear
A low block heel you feel secure in is ideal, but trainers or socks are completely fine to begin with. Wear comfortable, movable kit, bring water, and add the heel whenever your confidence says it's time.
Choreography and Sass
Longer Routines
The counts join into fuller sultry routines, and you build the stability and stamina to dance them all the way through in the heel rather than stopping to steady yourself between moves.
Adding Attitude
Once the steps are secure we layer in the styling — the poses, the pauses and the sass — so your version stops being careful and starts looking genuinely commanding.
Owning It
Floor and Levels
We introduce the trickier material — floorwork, level changes and sharper transitions — all done safely in the heel, which is where heels dance really starts to look like the videos that inspired it.
Performing Out
We focus on projection and presence, the difference between running a routine and performing it, so you can hold a room, a stage or a camera with real assurance.
Your Own Power
Making It Yours
You begin colouring the choreography with your own attitude, finding the version of confident that actually feels like you rather than an impression of someone else.
Where It Goes
Some keep heels as a weekly confidence hit; others chase performance or harder choreography, and we'll happily talk through low-pressure ways to take it wherever you fancy.
Heels in Blackpool FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I have to wear heels straight away? +
Not at all. Loads of dancers start in trainers or socks and add a heel once their balance and confidence are ready — there's genuinely no rush. The class builds the walk and posture first, so you can pop the heels on whenever it feels right for you.
Do I need dance experience to join? +
None needed. Heels classes are built to welcome complete beginners, and we break the walk, posture and choreography down slowly. Plenty of our regulars had never danced before, and the patient pace means nobody gets left behind while they find their feet.
Is it safe? I'm worried about turning an ankle. +
Safety is baked in. We warm up and strengthen the ankles every session, drill controlled walking before any tricks, and only add floorwork and levels once you're steady. Starting in a low block heel and building up gradually keeps the risk low while the confidence grows.
Whereabouts in Blackpool are the classes? +
We run from a central studio near the town-centre Winter Gardens and Tower area, with a South Shore option too; your exact venue is confirmed at booking. The Promenade tramway and Blackpool North station both leave you a short walk or a quick tram ride from the door.
How much is a heels class in Blackpool? +
A drop-in is a flat £8, with no membership and nothing to sign. You pay only for the sessions you come to, so it's easy to fit around work and life and to keep coming back purely because you want to, not because a contract says so.
Is it just for women? +
Not remotely — heels is for every body and every gender, and the room is all the better for the mix. The style is about confidence and expression rather than looking a certain way, and everyone is genuinely welcome to strut, pose and perform.
Is it a good workout? +
Surprisingly tough. Balancing and moving in a heel fires up your core, legs and ankles far more than flat shoes, and a full class of walking, choreography and runs leaves the legs well and truly worked — glamorous on the surface, hard graft underneath.
Is there an age limit? +
Our adult classes run from 17 to 75. You set your own intensity, choose your heel height and can keep as much or as little on the floor as suits you, so heels welcomes a wide range of ages and confidence levels without anyone feeling out of place.
Can we book a private group for a hen do? +
Absolutely — heels is one of our most popular group bookings. A sultry, confidence-boosting routine makes a brilliant hen do or birthday, and we'll tailor the choreography and track to your group; just add your date and rough numbers to the enquiry form.
