North YorkshireHow Your Bollywood Party Runs
Arrival and a filmi warm-up
Your choreographer arrives with a playlist of film hits and warms the group up with bhangra shoulders and screen-star expressions. Rule one is established early: play it to the back row of the cinema.
Building the routine
Storytelling hand gestures, bounces, spins and big group formations stack into a proper production number, taught in short repeatable sections. The bride gets the hero entrance — everyone else is her supporting cast, and the drama is compulsory.
The big-screen finale
One full run-through, filmed on your phones, complete with formation changes and a freeze-frame ending. Bollywood numbers are designed for crowds, so the more hens in shot, the better it looks.
Why Bollywood for the Hen Do?
Because Bollywood numbers are ensemble pieces by design — built for a crowd, not a soloist — so a hen group is exactly the cast they were written for. The style rewards commitment over precision: big expressions, bigger arm lines and total shamelessness score far higher than perfect technique. If your group can overact, it can Bollywood.
Your routine borrows from across the tradition: classical storytelling hands, bhangra bounce, hip work and the punch-the-sky joy of hits like Jai Ho, arranged into formations that put the bride at the centre of every shot. In India, the sangeet — the pre-wedding dance party — is a beloved institution, which makes this the most wedding-appropriate theme on the list.
Britain adopted Bollywood long ago. Andrew Lloyd Webber brought it to the West End with Bombay Dreams in 2002, and Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire gave the UK its biggest Bollywood-flavoured moment when Jai Ho won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2009. Your living room is simply the next venue.
Aim for the back row of the cinema — subtlety is not the assignment.
Storytelling Hands
Gesture work borrowed from classical Indian dance — every move means something, and it all looks superb on camera.
Bhangra Shoulders
The bouncing shoulder move nobody can do without smiling. The engine room of every celebration number.
Filmi Drama
Held eye contact, dramatic head turns and freeze-frame poses — the acting is half the choreography.
Jai Ho Energy
The triumphant, arms-to-the-sky style of Bollywood's biggest crossover hit — an obvious finale candidate.
Sangeet Formations
Group patterns straight from India's pre-wedding dance parties — lines, circles and canon moves that flatter any size of crew.
The Hero Entrance
Every Bollywood film has one. In this routine it belongs to the bride, in glorious slow motion.
Bollywood Facts for the Group Chat
Bombay + Hollywood
The name is a mash-up of Bombay and Hollywood — the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai.
The world's busiest

An Oscar-winning song

West End Bollywood
Bombay Dreams, produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber with music by A. R. Rahman, opened in London's West End in 2002 and ran for two years.
Bollywood Questions, Answered
How does the pricing work for a Bollywood hen party?
One flat rate for the whole group: from £140 plus venue hire for an hour, or £165 plus venue for ninety minutes. The price is fixed whatever your group size — no per-person maths.
Do we need any dance experience?
None at all. Bollywood choreography is taught here in short, repeatable sections, and enthusiasm genuinely outranks technique — the routine is designed so complete beginners look great in the finale video.
Can the choreographer come to us?
Yes — to your hotel, Airbnb or hired hall in any of the cities we cover, or to a partner studio if you would prefer mirrors. Bollywood formations do enjoy a bit of space, so clear the sofas.
Should we bring costumes or props?
Props and costumes are not supplied, so bring your own if you fancy them — bangles, flower garlands and colourful scarves all photograph brilliantly. Comfortable clothes you can bounce in are the only real requirement.
Quick Enquiry
