How Your Street Dance Party Runs

Warm-Up and Grooves

Your choreographer arrives, the playlist goes on, and the first ten minutes loosen everyone up with the basic bounces and grooves street dance is built on. It doubles as the ice-breaker — nobody stays self-conscious for long.

Learn the Routine

The routine is taught in short, repeatable sections so nobody gets left behind. Expect attitude coaching, a locking move or two for the confident ones, and the bride placed front and centre where she belongs.

The Filmed Finale

Full run-through, phones out, maximum swagger. The final performance is filmed for the group chat — and more than a few groups have resurrected it on the dance floor at the wedding reception.

Why Street Dance Works for a Hen Party

Street dance is the most forgiving theme on our list. There is no partner work, no pointed toes and no wrong way to do a groove — the whole style runs on bounce, attitude and doing it like you mean it. That makes it perfect for mixed abilities: the friend who dances every weekend and the one who claims two left feet learn the same routine, side by side.

Your choreographer builds the routine on the day around hip-hop party grooves, with a little locking and popping thrown in for anyone feeling brave and a group freeze at the end for the photo. It is set to a track the bride actually loves, and she goes front and centre — this is her show, and the rest of you are the backing crew.

Britain took street dance mainstream. Diversity beat Susan Boyle to win Britain's Got Talent in 2009 in one of the most-watched finals the show has ever had, and breaking made its Olympic debut at Paris 2024. Somewhere between those two moments, street dance stopped being niche — which is why it now sits so comfortably between prosecco and dinner on a hen weekend.

No partners, no technique, no problem — street dance runs on attitude, and hen parties arrive with plenty.

Old-School Party Grooves

The running man and the classic block-party moves that built hip-hop — simple, fun and instantly recognisable on camera.

Breaking Basics

A little top rock and a group freeze for the finale photo — Olympic-approved since Paris 2024, hen-approved for far longer.

Locking

Points, pauses and wrist rolls from the funk style Don Campbell invented in 1970s Los Angeles. Made for showing off.

Popping

Sharp hits and robot-style isolations for the brave — even a rough first attempt looks brilliant on film.

Nineties Throwback

MC Hammer-to-TLC era energy: big shapes, baggy-trouser moves and zero subtlety. A guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Chart-Banger Finale

The routine is set to a track the bride loves — tell us her favourite and the choreography is built around it.

Street Dance Facts Worth Repeating

Olympic Since 2024

Breaking made its Olympic debut at Paris 2024, with sixteen B-Boys and sixteen B-Girls battling at Place de la Concorde.

Born in the Bronx

Street dance grew out of 1970s block parties in the Bronx, where DJ Kool Herc's extended breaks gave dancers their moment.

The Diversity Moment

Street dance crew Diversity beat Susan Boyle to win Britain's Got Talent in 2009 — still one of the show's most famous finals.

Locking Has an Inventor

Don Campbell created locking in Los Angeles around 1970 — the signature freeze began as him pausing mid-move to remember the next step.

Street Dance Questions, Answered

How does pricing work for a street dance hen party?

One flat rate for the whole group: from £140 plus venue hire for an hour, or £165 plus venue for ninety minutes. Six of you or twenty-six, the price stays the same — no per-person maths, no penalty when someone drops out.

Can the choreographer come to our accommodation?

Yes. In all 67 cities we cover, your choreographer can come to your hotel, Airbnb or a hired hall — you just need enough floor space to move. Prefer a proper studio with mirrors? We can book one of our partner studios instead.

None of us have danced since school — will we keep up?

Easily. The routine is built on the day for your group and taught in short, repeatable sections, and street dance rewards attitude over accuracy. Complete beginners finish the session looking like they have done it for years — on camera, at least.

What should we wear, and do you supply props?

Trainers and clothes you can move in — that is genuinely all you need. We do not supply costumes or props, so if the group wants matching snapbacks, chains or bride-squad t-shirts, bring your own. They photograph brilliantly.
