How Your Commercial Party Runs

Warm-Up and Attitude School

The session opens with a warm-up and a crash course in commercial basics — sharp arms, hair flicks and the confident walk that makes any routine look professional before a single step is learned.

Build the Music Video

Your choreographer teaches the routine in short sections, then layers in formations and position changes that put the bride at the centre of every angle — exactly how a music video is staged.

Lights, Phones, Action

The finale is a full filmed run-through, choreographed with the camera in mind. Slow-motion hair flicks optional, group-chat domination guaranteed — and plenty of groups perform it again at the reception.

Why Commercial Works for a Hen Party

Commercial is the style you already know from music videos and pop tours — a sharp, sassy blend of jazz, street and pure attitude, designed above all to look good on camera. That is exactly what a hen party needs: a routine built to be filmed. Every move is chosen for how it reads on a phone screen, so the finale footage looks genuinely impressive rather than gloriously chaotic.

Your choreographer draws on the moves you have been copying at weddings for years — a Single Ladies hand flick here, a Britney-era hair whip there — and stitches them into one routine set to the bride's favourite artist. Girl-group formations put her at the centre of every shot, with the rest of you as her backing dancers. No experience needed, just commitment to the sass.

Commercial is also the style behind Britain's pop machine. It powered Little Mix — the first group ever to win The X Factor, back in 2011 — through a decade of arena tours, and it fills weekly studio classes from Bath to York. If the bride ever rehearsed a girl-band routine in her bedroom with a hairbrush microphone, this is that routine finally staged properly.

Every hen party ends up filming something — commercial is the theme where the footage is the whole point.

Single Ladies

The most copied hand move in pop history — JaQuel Knight's 2008 choreography, adapted for your whole group.

Sorry-Style Crew Energy

Parris Goebel's all-crew formations from Justin Bieber's Sorry video — no star required, just the squad.

Britney-Era Sass

Toxic-era precision: sharp arms, hair whips and choreography that absolutely means business.

The Crazy in Love Strut

That walk. Every commercial routine needs an entrance, and the bride's is built in from the first count.

Girl-Group Formations

Little Mix-style position changes that keep the bride at the centre of every camera angle.

Camera-Ready Finale

The routine is choreographed for the phone screen — the filmed run-through is the moment it is all for.

Commercial Facts Worth Repeating

A VMA at Eighteen

JaQuel Knight choreographed Beyoncé's Single Ladies video at just eighteen — and it won the MTV VMA for Best Choreography.

Choreographed Overnight

Parris Goebel choreographed Justin Bieber's Sorry video overnight and shot it in hours — it has since passed three billion YouTube views.

Copyrighted Moves

In 2021, JaQuel Knight became the first choreographer to formally copyright dance moves, starting with Single Ladies.

The Little Mix Effect

Little Mix became the first group ever to win The X Factor in 2011 — their tour routines are commercial choreography at full power.

Commercial Questions, Answered

How much does a commercial hen party class cost?

One flat rate for the whole group: from £140 plus venue hire for an hour, or £165 plus venue for ninety minutes. The price never changes with numbers — six hens or twenty-six, no per-person maths and nothing lost if someone drops out.

Does the choreographer come to us or do we travel?

Your choice. In every one of our 67 cities the choreographer can come to your hotel, Airbnb or hired hall, or we can book a partner studio with mirrors if you want the full music-video rehearsal feel. Most weekend groups pick the come-to-you option.

We are not exactly Beyoncé's backing dancers — is that a problem?

Not remotely. The routine is built on the day for your group, taught in short sections, and commercial style is mostly confidence and clean arm lines — both very teachable in an afternoon. The wine afterwards is optional but traditional.

Can we do costumes, and do you provide them?

Absolutely do costumes — matching outfits make the footage. We do not supply costumes or props, so bring your own: think coordinated colours, sunglasses or bride-squad tops. Your choreographer will happily stage the finale around them.
